Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Billing

Do you participate with my insurance?

You should obtain the most recent participating provider directory from your insurance carrier or you may ask to speak with one of our billing specialists, who will check the most current records.

Will you submit all services to my insurance carrier, even if you don't participate with that insurance?

Yes, providing you supply us with a current contract number as well as the mailing address and phone number for claims. Please bring your insurance ID card with you, as all of this information is available to us on your card.

Do I need a referral?

This is based upon the contract you selected with your insurance company. You must contact your insurance carrier to determine if a referral is necessary. If so, it is your responsibility to contact your primary care physician and obtain the referral. If the referral is not obtained prior to your visit, you may be financially responsible for the full balance of that visit.

What about a referral for continued visits with Hematology-Oncology doctors or other tests they may order?

Our team of billing specialists will coordinate with your primary care physician for any additional visits here that need referrals. Some insurance carriers require prior authorization for chemotherapy services, which we will help you to obtain. The billing specialist will also coordinate referrals for outside services with your PCP and insurance carrier on your behalf.

Is this service covered by my insurance?

Every insurance contract is different. It is ultimately the responsibility of the patient to know your benefits, but prior to each initial chemotherapy or non-chemotherapy regimen, we will contact your insurance company to get exact benefits specific to the patient's treatment. If you still need help in determining if a service is covered, please ask to speak to one of our billing specialists for assistance.

I can't afford treatment, what can I do?

Ask to speak with one of our patient financial counselors, who can offer a variety of options such as drug reimbursement programs, Medicaid, funding through various societies, or monthly payment plans.

Why can't I be billed for co-pays?

Unless prior arrangements are made with our billing staff, co-payments are required at the time of service as outlined in your contract with your insurance carrier.
